Bless Your Family - Day 24 - Peaceful and Clean

Bless Your Family, Day 24 – Peaceful and Clean

Blessing Your Family, Peaceful & Clean

Welcome to Day 24 of our Journey through “31 Days to Bless Your Family”!

Today’s theme is Peaceful & Clean. This is a topic that literally is creating an environment to Bless Your Family! Most of our other topics create an environment to bless your family by the way we communicate, demonstrate, and intentionally act in a consistent manner. But when we keep our home environment as clean as we can, it helps to remove stress, and has many other benefits, or blessings, as well.

I have to admit our home is not as clean as my wife would prefer it, but if your teenager comments that one of the blessings they experience is in your own home then it must be pretty good. If they comment that it feels like one of those model homes, decorated nicely with everything coordinating, then kudos to my wife in our case. When I was talking with my son about this he even referenced how a peaceful environment that is clean and free from clutter helps you to feel and think more clearly. He even mentioned color psychology as part of the effects. “You know Dad, there’s science behind that!” (see this article from HeadSpace on the subject)

We don’t live fancy by any means, but hands down when I fell in love with my wife I knew I appreciated her sense of style and her minimalist nature. She thrives in a clean home, feels rested and rejuvenated in her peaceful sanctuary. If this is your spouse then an Act of Service (Love Language) for our mates would be to help them with household chores and picking up after ourselves. I know I can do more around the house, and because I love my wife I know I need to be more intentional about prioritizing that regularly. I need to bless my wife and contribute to the Peaceful and Clean environment our family is blessed in.

Check out these practical benefits of a Peaceful and Clean environment from SHAPE.com, in their article “How Cleaning and Organizing Can Improve Your Physical and Mental Health“:
  • It Can Reduce Stress And Depression
  • It Can Help You Eat Better
  • It Will Boost Your Productivity
  • It Will Help You Stick To Your Workouts
  • It Can Improve Your Relationships
  • It Can Help You Lose Weight
  • It Will Help You Sleep Better

As you are becoming more intentional about how to Bless Your Family, how might a Peaceful and Clean environment help reduce negatives and multiply positives for your family?

If you are the messier one in your marriage, like I am in mine, what are ways you can bless your spouse by honoring the environment you are loving and blessing your family in? How can the two of you Surrender to Oneness in this area, and what might that model for your children when they see you working together on it?

How can you help each person in your home to participate in creating an overall environment that is Peaceful and Clean? How might you help each individual to also have their own space that helps them to thrive in their uniqueness?
